What would be an appropriate long tail engine size for a riveted 1648 Jon Boat ? The boat weight is 275 pounds empty.

In a simple long tail you will find that boat with a lot of 23 - 25 HP motors on them. They run 9 x 5 t0 9 x 7 props.

If you want to get a little fancier, then my magnum long tail with a 1 1/2 reduction to the drive line with a 14 HP Robin and a
10 x 8 prop will give you a little more push and speed.
