prop slip?

I have a 1860 boat with a 50 hp Mercury 2 stroke tiller. When i am trimmed down all the way and punch the throttle to get up on plan the motor or prop almost studders before catching. Its almost like the prop is being ran through mud before if gets up on plane, but i am in deep enough water. When the motor is trimmed up and the throttle is punched the water pressure pushes and trims the motor down and the slip in not noticeable. I believe i am running a 10 3/8 X 11 stainless.
