I just purchased this 1972 BP 100, as it fits one of my smaller boats, light weight, quite, etc.
Runs like a champ and all I have done is basics, oil change, rebuild carb, lower unit fluid, plugs, everthIng was tight and clean.
On these engines, the intake water and exhaust are just below the cavitation plate, same tube handles both function , one faces forward, the other rear.
My issue, last time I ran it was two weeks ago. Today I get home and notice small amount of oil dripping from the exhaust tube which is also the water intake on these older engines. It's LOWER unit oil?? Not motor oil. I wiped It all clean and it is clean lower unit oil?? Has that smell and color.
What in the world is going on?
Lower unit oil, it's not coming down or over or anyplace from the lower unit drain or fill holes?
Much thanks for any suggestions!
