Boat trailer wheel well

Postby agengo02 » Mon Sep 16, 2013 10:30 am

My wheel well on the passenger side completely rusted off the other day; are there any potential problems with not replacing it? I imagine it helps protect from road debris and what not, but I don't want to have to replace if I don't need to. Any foreseeable problems leaving it off?

Thanks.

wheel wells prevent debis/stones/blown tire debris and grease from being thrown every where.
i would weld it back on.

It rusted off (steel trailer in salt water) so I threw it away. Any other solutions like replacements or something?

Thanks for the reply.

They make aftermarket fenders.

Those also make plastic replacements, that way you wouldn't have to worry bout rust. Check out northern hydraulics website. If your not concerned about mud ect. being slung up on the side of your boat, I wouldn't replace it. My best friend never had fenders on any of his boat trailers, strange how he always managed to find them that way.

Well the other side rusted off so now at least there is some symmetry for the trailer. Thanks for the replies.
