Scavenger backwater motors

Postby brock2013 » Thu Sep 26, 2013 7:40 pm

I may be trading for one of these soon. It is a 5.5 hp tecumsuh and is going on a 12'x36" homemade wood layout boat. What kinda speeds would be possible with this? Also how do y'all like the scavenger motors.

Speed is a guess because the hull shape matters and so does the prop. I'm guessing between 4 - 6 MPH

That's not too bad. If I do get it I may upgrade to a 6.5 predator and mod it out to get some more speed. Here is a bad picture of the hull shape. I can get a better pic tommorow afternoon but here is an idea. It is flat bottom that slopes up very similar to a Jon boat

I think that the predator is stronger than the Kawasiki. It is probably way easier to get modding parts for. Read "guy with a Hat's"
Post on this forum. He has had lots of experience with the small Predator modding it for his own builds.

Enjoy the ride!
