14ft homemade duck blind

Postby flight canceled » Thu Apr 03, 2008 6:31 pm

Its a work in progress on my flat bottom 14ft jon boat. i stil need to get the northern flight grass for it, but the material you that see is on it is comming off. it was just to see how much head room there is. There is a 10 hp honda motor i have. you can kind of see it in the back ground of the second pic. what do you think?

Home built mud motor

Postby tfosters » Tue Aug 19, 2008 7:29 pm

Here are some pics of a 5hp Briggs and Stratton roto tiller motor I used for my mud motor. I saw this last fall in one of the threads and thought I would try to build one. The advise in the thread was pretty good, enough for this carpenter to figure out. It took me about 24 hours of assemlbly time not includuing running for mics parts. The only thing I had to have done is the threading and cutting of the key way on the 3/4" S/S drive shaft. My wife bought the prop for me as a xmas gift. I took it out for the first run last month and went about 10 miles. Top speed with two guys and on a 13' jon boat was around 6 mph. Total cost including machine work was about $400.00 to $450.00. Very cool build!Image

Here is mine. I built it this past spring. It drafts about 2 inches fully loaded. 14' x 42" and I made it from cedar framing and luan sheathing. Lots of fun.
