Triton 1860 SC w/ Mud Buddy Quickflip

Postby jdenny21 » Thu Jan 28, 2010 9:28 am

Here is my new Triton 1860 SC in Mossy Oak Shadow Grass with a 90 Mercury 2 Stroke ELPTO and a Mud Buddy Quickflip Blind. It will run just over 35 mph fully loaded with 3 hunters, lab, 6 dozen decoys, and lots of other gear on the GPS (will do approx 48 mph unloaded with just me). The boat hides quite well when brushed up (more pics to follow) and the Mud Buddy Quickflip deluxe is a pleasure to hunt from, really protects you from the elements. Also has a Garmin GPS / Sounder Combo, weber grill w/ griddle, heater with 20lbs propane tank. Great big river runner / hunter; will run in approx. 10" of water with motor trimmed up, but still operational.

Thank you, I love it too.

Got it at a really good price from www.proschoicemarine.com in Warsaw, MO. It's an '09 model year that they said they were letting it go for basically dealer cost to make room for the 2010s that were coming in. If I had to guess, they probably still have some '09s if your in the market and it's the best deal I found (by $5k) after close to 8 months of research. I picked up this 18' with a 90hp for the price of a 1548 with a 50hp, too good of a deal to pass up. Check out their website, I'm pretty sure they will ship anywhere in the country.

I got a really good deal on it, the guy threw in a 55lbs minn kota and the fish finder and all the stuff for waterskiing and tubing and bunch of other random things!!
Any ideas for a blind for it?
They might get my guns, but they're gonna get the bullets first!!

you gonna build a blind for it? I have one like that, just a little 10ft alum but i'm thinking about doing some modifying for local lakes. build a pvc blind, gun rack, decoy holders, coffee cup holders, shotgunshell holders etc.

Heres mine..Its fiberglass but it was priced right at 200 for the trailer if I took the boat. its got a 90hp johnson on the back so I can run about 35 to my hunting grounds. Trihull handles the open water pretty nicly. It only drafts about 6inches full loaded so Ive trolled into some tight water. I dont have any pictures with the blind up but its not as nice to look at as half of these blinds anyhow.

Here is mine. My boat is a 1232 that I got in January when I started working on it. I started out replacing the lights that were already on it. When I did that the entire electrical system fell apart on me, so I had to rewire it completely. I got a set of KC's to put on it. I went to the out-law's house and scrounged up some 3/4 square tube steel and welded a light bar and put it on. The out-law's also had some old construction signs that have been there for years (don't worry, the way they were gotten was legal). I grabbed them up and built a floor out of it. It's aluminum so it was perfect. I put wood underneath so they don't sag. I primed and covered them with liquid rubber. On top of that I sprayed it with truck bed liner in a can to give me a rough texture for grip.

On to the blind. It is 3/4 conduit. I bent it where I needed and put 1/2 in inside it so it doesn't sag. Welded the joints and added a roof. Now with a 1232 size boat, weight is a major consideration plus you probably won't stand to shoot (unless you want to swim). So I made the blind to come up to eye level. The roof is set to give me plenty of head room so it sticks out on the side about 4 to 6 inches. Now, I wanted to make the blind as versitle as possible so I used the ole' imagination and made some brackets to hold one side up. So with this blind I can use it any of 3 ways. I have a pull strap that runs across the middle (pull it and both sides fall), I have the strap with the brackets I made which holds one side up (so pull the strap and one side will fall), and I put hole pins where the two sides cross (both sides stay up and just push the roof back to shoot). I put some pipe insulation on the frame to keep it from crashing so bad and camo duck tape on for frame camo.

Next was the paint. I got some stencils from a very nice forum guy here (find his stencils in the classifieds). I also got some Parker's paint and went to town. 2 coats of Parkers and on to the stencils. It was a fun project. I don't have the camo material yet but I'm gonna put some camoclad on it with raffia. Let me know what you think. I'm posting the pics in the next thread.
