1652 aluminum floor project

Postby Swanny » Sat Mar 01, 2014 2:16 pm

Started in my floor project today. Coming along pretty good. Ordered some samples of hydroturf from gatortrax to see what color will look good with this camo.

Will do! Laying down foam between the ribs today. Anyone think I should bother priming and painting this before adding hydro turf, or even just the bottom side and lay hydro on top?

What are the specs of the aluminum you used and what is the price on that stuff?

4x8 sheets of .090 5052. They were $90 each and needed 2 sheets.

i wouldnt prime/paint anything your turf is going to stick onto. mine went straight onto bare aluminum and stuck great.

Hydroturf is down and screwed the floor down to the ribs after putting 2"closed cell foam between the ribs. I also laid down some weather strip on the underside of the floor where it meets the ribs to minimize any noise and any rubbing. For some reason my phone pictures are turned 90 degrees until you click on them. I also put down my Slider G5's yesterday in the front and rear (not shown in this Pic)

I purchased the swivel quick releases from bass pro so I can switch any seats on the slider bases to spider bases, or adapt a pedestal base to the front track very easily. They seem very well made and durable.

lots of metal supply houses are around that price. dont know where you are, but even welders in your area could probably get you a sheet of 4x8 for that price. i got 5'x10' sheets for around $115 up in DE when i did mine. Joseph Fazzio i think was the name of the place. they have other locations.

It was a metal supply company that had a huge warehouse. I don't think they do much direct business to people like me, but mostly business to businesses. I just did a quick google search in my area for aluminum and steel.
