That really depends on WHERE you hunt (i.e. what type of water you have to cross). I have a 1754 Gator Trax Mud Boat with GTR35 (.125 5086 welded aluminum) and it's a great mix for me--I have to cross large stretches of open water that can have pretty good sized waves, but also allows me to go in SUPER shallow (i.e. pure mud), weedy areas and areas with underwater obstacles all with three guys and decoys, lab, etc.
This would NOT be the ideal boat if I hunted much smaller areas alone with remote launches. It would also not be good for really big water hunting or sea duck hunting.
