If you get the Avery, spend the extra $$ and buy the wind block. I dont have one but I hunt with a friend that does. He didnt buy the wind block and we paid for it one day. Since then, he has added it and it made a big difference. I built my own out of 3/4" EMT tubing. Google duck boat blinds and pull up "images". There are alot of pictures of homemade blinds to get ideas from. They are really pretty simple to make and alot cheaper.

How long have you had a Beavertail? How many people do you usually have hunting with you?

is this the one you have https://beavertail.onlineofficesystem.c ... ?prodID=96
Yes thats it. I've had Avery and Cabelas Northern Flight. The Avery was junk (as all Avery products tend to be) and I just didn't like the northern flight. Do it right the first time, get a Beavertail.

Agreed. I have both an BT and an Avery on diff boats and the Beavertail is much easier/quicker than an Avery. Less parts to break and so on. Go with a Beavertail.

I was thinking of getting a avery but ran across a guy selling a beavertail for my 16' boat for 300. I got it for a little less and love it. I've hunted in the rain and snow and pretty heavy winds and it has yet to disappoint me. No rain except in the gunning holes and with a little propane heater it stays warm. I usually hunt with one other guy and a dog. It has a dog door also. and is quick, just flip it over and its ready to go. easy to brush and install. wouldnt trade mine.

This ^^^

Got mine in 2000 after hunting out of an Avery in a buddy's boat. Avery looks like a blind (big box) while the BT has a rounded profile (as most all things in nature) and with mallards landing within 20 yards of it, the birds apparently tend to agree.

Cabelas northern flight blind is what I got. I think its kinda along the same lines as the avery. If and when I get a new blind I will be going with a beavertail for sure. I did see a guy hunting with a beavertail and did not mud or grass the blind. From a ways away the blind camo material kinda shined and stood out.
