Beavertail Pods

Postby ChattanoogaDuckHunter » Fri Jun 27, 2014 11:28 pm

I ordered some pods and have been trying to figure out where exactly to mount them. I have been searching for a while but all boats are different and I would like to get more opinion from some people who have them. Here's my boat. Image
Should I mount them right at the bottom, a little above it? Where is basically what I'm asking. Thanks.

Read this thread. viewtopic.php?f=72&t=178505 yes all 10 pages. Some bs in there but mostly good info regarding your question.

I love mine. Mounted (welded) on the bottom tilted up about 1.5". Basicly it followed the slant built in to the BT pods.

You're going to have issues with your plug. Probably will have to get a hammer and torch out to form it around the plug hole.

I'll think I'll move the plug I haven't decided yet.

I mounted mine as stated in Beavertails directions. Follow the contour of the gunwales with the outer edge. With a straight edge along the bottom of the boat, you want the end of the pod up 1/2" to 3/4", no more or you start to lose effectiveness. I would just move the plug to center and be done with it, unless you plan on installing a tunnel later.

I mounted mine flush on the gunnels and 1" up from the bottom of the hull with 1/2" rise from front to back. Barely any reduction in speed great lift. The boat is a 1648 with a 40 merc
