Hello, im new to taxidermy, and would very much like to get into it. I am debating on weather to mount a duck, pheasent, or a dove or something like a smaller bird

never done it personally, but i know lots of guys start out with koots, or other "worthless" birds... that way if you screw up.. who cares :smile:

I would suggest a squirell to start with. The duck would be very hard to do as a first mount, and forget about the dove. With the squirell you have a thick skin and don't have to deal with all of the fat that most ducks have. A better chance at success. Good luck
