Ok I might be a little nuts but here goes. What are your thoughts on taxidery a dog. I have been thinking about doing this when my lab passes. What do you guys think?

I'm not going to call your strange because theres alot crazier people out there than you be my first though was to have him/her cremated (MS) but if you do want the dog stuffed then spend to money and do it right, put the dog in the right setting like sitting straight forward with dead ducks at his feet or looking up at duck flying. Maybe looking at one on the wall. Just my thoughts.

Sonny (my yeller lab) was never hunted. He was just a friend. I was thinking about him sitting in his chair or laying on his pellow. I had joked around with the ol lady (she is not real happy about this) that I would have in lifting his leg on a tree (He has a great stance). But in all reality I was also wondering about freeze drying. Does anyone know any details. also since I am thinking about this, what steps to I take when he passes. IE before he makes it to the taxidermist?

Here's my viewpoint. I want you to understand that this is completely my viewpoint. First off, it costs a great deal of money to have a dog/cat/pet taxi'd. We're talking twice to triple the normal fee for an equivelent size animal. Secondly, do you get your Grandpa mounted when he passes because you had some great memories with his prize horses mounted. To me it seems a bit morbid. For me, the most important thing to do is remember the great times you had with your pet, and let him go. Roy Rogers' dog Bullet and two of his prize horses were mounted, and it seems a bit morbid to me. Do what you want to do, but it will cost you quite a bit of money, and who's to say that the Taxidermist will capture the true "look" of you friend?

My 2 cents,
-Pete
