Filming ducks

Postby casey_714 » Fri Jun 30, 2006 5:55 pm

I wasn't quite sure where to post this, but maybe someone in here can help. I am looking to buy a digital camcorder to take hunting. I want to use it for home type stuff, but be able to use it as well when I go hunting.

I don't really care what brand it is.. I'm thinking Canon, Sony, or Panasonic. Most of them seem to have 20-25x optical zoom, and 600-1000 digital zoom. Which zoom is more important? I'm kind of confused about those numbers. Are the zooms on these cameras good enough to use for duck hunting?

Are any of these camera's good for duck hunting???

I've kind of been looking at the Canon zr-700, canon dc-100, and the panasonic-gs59..

Can anyone :help: me??

Can't be no help for digital recording, we just use our old cam corders that way if something goes in the drink we don't care, in still photography I think optical is more important and obviously the more mega pixels the clearier the picture at bigger sizes.

Sony handycam in Digital8 format seems to be pretty good!

Digital zoom is pretty much worthless. Optical is what you need. And what ISD said about the megapixels is correct. As far as taking a picture and croping it down to one bird and being clear.
If they're dumb enough to be lured in by plastic you're really just doing them a favor.

Know your target before you pull the trigger.

Duck Hunting is ALL about the bag.
