Couple of Divers

Postby drakehntr » Sat Jul 28, 2012 1:43 pm

Just got my Greater Scaup and Ringneck ducks back. The bluebill pic doesn't show it, but a Lesser Scaup is mounted flying above it that the taxidermist did for me a couple of years ago. They look great flying across my wall showing the suttle differences in each bird. Ringneck was a surprise for me this year.....we usually see a few flocks where we hunt, but this year we saw more and they gave us some great shooting and was able to get this one stud during the last week of season.

The blue bill doesn't have the same markings that a ringneck has. It should only have a small black marking on it

Its hard to tell from the pic, but the white marking isn't as defined as the Ringneck....more faded to gray. The bird I shot was a lot more gray than the others I killed this year, but the bill is a little lighter than I had hoped. I still love it.

For reference notice the Ringneck is much more grayer than a Scaup and shows white down the edge of the upper mandible and white at the base where the bill meets the feathers on the upper mandible also. If your are happy with it, fine, but paint jobs can be easily corrected. Just an observation and trying to help.
