I always think about what are the characteristics of a species that you want to see.....on redheads it is the head. That being said a standing pose would be my suggestion as to where it could be fluffed up compared to a flying pose where it naturally would lay somewhat flatter. You really don't loose any color since they are basically grey/black throughout. Check out Birdman Studios for all the pictures you need.

For a diving duck, I would definetly recommend a standing or sitting position. There isn't much to the wings to display whereas a standing/sitting position really shows off the profile of the head and the color transition from beak to tail end of the duck. I recently mounted a drake canvasback in a standing pose and also found that the size of the bird is still appreciated. Just my thoughts. Good luck!

that's a nice looking duck.......i hope to get a nice plumed one like that one of these days. I shot a big male redhead last year but he was lacking most of his color. Post a pic of your mount after you get it back. Thanks,

I always thought a red head looked good with its wings cupped up real hard almost making a circle with its wings, then have it turned alittle sideways with those big feet down.
