Brant Mount Ideas

Postby pchunter » Wed Jan 16, 2013 7:01 am

I got what I consider a once in a lifetime bird for me and I am going to get it mounted. So I thought maybe I'd post here to see if I could get some ideas for a brant mount. The mount I choose needs to be one where both legs can be seen because that is why this brant is so special to me. It is double banded and I have never shot a banded bird before so I am proud as peacock with this bird.

Thanks

How about neck out, wings cupped and feet in landing position like it's just about to hit the deck?
Like the pic, but facing you, or even on the wall so the feet are eye level!

Interesting pose Slack Tide. It's exactly how I'm mounting my hen eider to go with my drake. I have an almost exact picture of an eider doing the same thing (frontal pose). I was going to mount her today, but I was feeling lazy, so she will wait until Saturday.

Dropping into your living room!

Yea, cool idea.

I was thinking of having the hen's wings back as if she's in the peak of her flap. I have the drake with his wings sort of parachuting in on the down flap, and thought having her with wings back would add another interesting contrast besides their obvious plumage. I was just in the basement tinkering with the neck to mannikin juncture, deciding what would look best? Of course the day of, I'll change my mind entirely. LOL
