thawing out to skin

What process do you guys uses to thaw your bird to skin it. Do u put it in the refridgerator for a day?

If I remember to, I get tomorrow's work out the night before and let them thaw at room temp.

If I forget then I will put them in a sink of warm water (with Dawn to kill any bacteria) for about 2 hours....BUT them being wet makes more of a mess.

Thaw them out starting at about 5 PM the day before. I thaw them at room temperature with a ceiling fan blowing on it. I make sure I have a towel under it to absorb any blood that may leak. The next morning the body may still be chilly, but the entire bird will be thawed waiting to skin. Another little hint before skinning, is to stretch out the bird's wings, and massage the skin a bit by squeezing the bird's body. It will skin that much better if it is warm, and has been stretched out a bit.
