American Widgeon

Postby Toller_Atlas » Sun Mar 24, 2013 10:14 am

Just picked up my first mount from a local taxidermist. I have only been hunting about 5 years. For my first three season's 75% of the birds i brought back were widgeons. my hunting buddy bring back a mixed bag, but i seemed to miss everything i shot at that was not a widgeon. Last year this is the only one i got, and the best looking one i have ever got.
He's mounted just about the same aspect i shot him from. thought i'd share. I am very happy with the mount and the dog really likes it.

I sure am glad the dog keeps letting me borrow his truck.

That's a nice drake widgeon. Looks to be fully matured. You might want to put him up a little higher on the wall.

Thanks, I don't know what all the widgeons are doing this far out on the edge of the central flyway, but i am grateful for. they look good and taste good.

and after seeing some of the dog versus mount horror stories the duck has moved up the wall.
I sure am glad the dog keeps letting me borrow his truck.
