Cackler Finished

Postby sprigpig1 » Sun Aug 18, 2013 10:37 pm

Finished this guy up tonight and boy was he in horrible shape when he was given to me. Busted wings that were missing tons of primary coverts had to splice feathers on inside of wing to hide the carnage and Left wing was broken in two places and bird was freezer burned badly. Had to re-constitute joints and feet. I know he has got some flaws but what a horrible bird to mount.

Came out nice though  I know working with shot up garbage makes everything so damn difficult, like to think that it makes a guy appreciate the good condition ones. At least that's what I have to tell myself to get through those types of birds! Cacklers are just awesome birds, you guys have all kinds of cool Canada's over there.

Thanks a lot guys...

Eric- exactly after this bird I will appreciate a well preserved bird that wasn't shot to hell.

Turned out very good Brandon. Good recovery, and way to stick with it, I know how easy it is to just throw it in the trash, and wait for another.
