unplugged freezer

Postby ptlkmg » Tue Nov 21, 2006 2:00 am

I have a question about frozen ducks, I had my chest freezer stacked with a bunch of pratice ducks that had been frozen, well somehow the freezer got unplugged and went unnoticed for about a week. I checked the ducks and nothing really seemed wrong with them except they were no longer frozen, so I plugged the freezer back in to let the duck re-freeze. Should I just discard them or will they still be ok to pratice on even though they have been re-frozen

They could be fine. If they weren't stinking, then there's a good chance that they're just fine. If you thaw out a bird to prep, and his feathers start slipping, then I'd say they're toast.

Good luck!
