Removing wrikles/folds in Elk hide?

Postby cliffordingles » Sun Sep 08, 2013 3:54 pm

Hey, I have an Elk hide that was passed down to me. Its around 50 years old and was in storage folded up.

It has a few set in folds and wrikles in the hide, can they be softened up and removed? I want to hang it on my wall behind my tv..

Thanks for any suggestions!

hair on I'm assuming? be careful handling it the hair is easily broken[on an elk moose or deer] ,and will come out. if you try to force it to lay flat ,gravity might be your best friend in this case. Don't dampen it unless you try a small piece first it may react with the tanning and fall to pieces ,seen it happen to a nice looking bear.
