Taxidermy Question

Postby TxWingHunter » Wed Dec 13, 2006 12:53 pm

I shot my first Mallard in Jan '06. I tucked his head under the wing and place him inside a pantyhose leg and wrapepd it in newspaper. It has been sitting in my freezer til now. My question is, is it still able to be taxidermied?

Yes........................well about a 95% yes anyways! Shouldn't be a problem. I have birds older than that I'm (have worked) working on.
:salude:
Hey, did you grab the blind bag with the shells when we left the truck?

OK, I was worried, I am a bad procrastenater. It's a special bird, It is my 10 yr old and my first harvest together. I thought about having it cupped and landing gear down.

Sounds like a special one. I wouldn't wait too much longer. The sooner the better.

Next time stay away from the newspaper, it draws the moisture out of the skin faster causing freezerburn sooner. Your best bet is plastic bags. That being said, a good taxi should not have much trouble bringing it back to life.
