Taxidermy bases

Postby Mike657 » Thu Nov 21, 2013 11:07 pm

I recently picked up a real nice piece of drift wood while duck hunting. I'm planning on useing it for a mount I am going to do. Do you guys have any idea how to kinda "cure" it to get the bugs out and to seal it.
Good Luck in the field-Mike.

I have used a couple pieces i found. First i power wash them good to get dirt and what i can off. Then put in a place warm enough to hatch anything in the wood but not in your house. You might get a bug problem doing that. I leave them stored there until i want them. then i spray them a couple times with some flat clear stain sealer. I havent had any problems yet with bugs. My one mount is about 7 years old now and nothing yet.
