To many birds in the freezer. Gifts for new taxi's

Postby cfkid8 » Wed Nov 27, 2013 6:56 pm

Due to the success of our deer hunting season, my stock of "oh ill mount this one some day" birds needs to be downsized. I want to gift these to people who are looking to start getting into the art of taxidermy and/or have lost, for whatever reason, a bird that they would've had mounted. These are what I know I have in the freezer (if there are others I will add as I clean out space for venison). Legally I cannot charge anyone for the bird but I can send them to you as long as you pay shipping, Priority Mail should get the bird there still frozen (?) this is my first time gifting ducks so if there are any pointers on how to do it they would be appreciated also.

Shoot me a PM if you want a pic of the bird(s) (mind you that they are all frozen so stretching out wings will not be capable)
None of these are shot up badly and will make excellent mounts.

-2 Drake Greater Scaup (1 pending)
-1 Drake Redhead (pending)
-1 Drake Wood Duck (pending)
-1 Drake Oldsquaw (pending)
-2 Snow Geese
-1 Cock Pheasant (pending)
-1 Drake Goldeneye (pending)

I'll take the old squaw and wood duck if you don't mind. Very generous of you

If you still have the goldeneye at the end of the season I would be very interested if I don't get one myself. I sent a hen to Todd Huffman two years ago. He mounted her and still has her and my banded green head. I need a drake to finish my mount and have spent a lot of time trying. Having nothing but bad luck with them!!! Lost three cripples last year. Can't kill one to save my life. Don't get many to decoy and the ones I do I tend to wiff on. I would much rather shoot my own but I need to get my mounts back at some point.

Cfkid, very cool of you. Please gift those two birds to the sprigpig. He is just learning taxidermy and already shows the talent of a master. I cannot wait to see what he does with them if you were to be so kind.

I can help you with shipping and rules involved. As well as the easiest way to insulate a package, and still have no leakage. Having people set up a FedEx account is the easiest way to ensure you get paid, because you simply use their account number to ship. Sending a well insulated package can still be fine after two or three days on the road. I always ship ground (for less cost to the gifted party) when gifting, and packages typically arrive still frozen during the winter months.

I would help further when you decide to send boxes. Just let me know.

Ok, lots of responses!

To the guys that PM'd me about the bluebill and pheasant I tried pm'ing you back but they have not left my outbox for some reason. Shoot me your email address and I will contact you that way.

Sprigpig1 : they are yours, only under one condition, I get a pic of the final product! Always like seeing new taxi's (as I am just starting also). Shoot me a PM with you email address or phone number and we can finalize things.

Captmike69 : just had someone ask for the goldeneye, but if I shoot a nice drake I will save one for you, we pass them up usually, because they don't taste very good, but I like them for the wall. So stay in touch and if you need one I should be able to help

Pete-Pec : I would appreciate all the help you can give, please email me at aprizzi8@yahoo.com or PM me on here but my PM replies don't seem to send for some reason.

Duckhunt4life81 : he's yours, PM me your email address and we can figure out the details.

Those PM's only leave your outbox after they are read by the recipient.

Yes Double-Banded it is still available, it is all yours. Once I get shipping materials for the birds I will contact everyone on how to reimburse for shipping. Still 2 snows and a bluebill left.
