Decided to re-mount a bird after had been dried for over a month or so. This was my first attempt at this so I kinda just winged it.
I had a drake pintail that I wasn't crazy about just taking up space in the garage. So he would be my victim... I mean test dummy.
So I hit him with some compressed air.. I figured he was dusty and had been absorbing all the dust and stuff that I stir up on the garage. Then it was off to a bath of very little dawn and warm water to start the re-hydration process.
Had to use a weight to hold him down through out the process. Changing the water often to wash out the soap of the feathers.
Here is his final rinse.
Stripped off paint on the feet(needed to be repainted anyway ) and Dried him off in a towel overnight
So after drying him, re-opening the belly to re- borax, stitching up holes( a lot of new holes during this process) I could finally do the fun stuff. Still grooming him and doing finishing touches.
Bill and feet will get a fresh coat of paint when dried.
