During a move my mounted pintail lost it's pin, is there any easy fix to put one in there? The original is long gone unfortunately, and I have yet to shoot another pintail since as they aren't terribly common where I hunt.

A buddy of mine had a similar thing happen. He does his own taxidermy as a hobby and took a straight feather from a different bird, trimmed it to look like a sprig (along the sides, etc.) and used a marker to make it jet black like a sprig. It looks really good and isn't noticable unless you know that he did it.

I used 2 flight feathers from a black bird , trimed up , you cant tell the difference.

You should check fly tie shops I got some flank feathers for a wood duck mount that was damaged . craft stores also have lots of feathers died diffrent colors the distal end of a pheasant feather trimmed down and colored with a black sharpie marker would probably do the trick I glued the woodduck feathers in place with a drop of crazy glue It is undetectable from the original
