Woodduck Pictures Please

Postby irishpride42 » Sun Jan 20, 2008 7:31 pm

Have a woodie I am going to mount and was wondering if some of you could post some pictures of your mounts that my wife can look at so she can decide what she likes. I picked the last mount so she is picking this one!

I won't lie to you, that I'm not real fond of relying on someone else's interpretation of what a mount should look like, so I always say find references that are ultimately as realistic as possible. Here is a link to some photos of Woodies in the wild. Please look at these for ideas, and you'll see that it is very hard to capture the full effect, but it pays to start at the source rather than at the end result.

If you don't like these, then post up a request for others, and I'll post another link, but these are some of the best pictures I've ever seen or used.

Here's one I had done many years ago that my brother's goddamned lab ate  Was one of my favorite positions for a woodie, really showed the plumage nicely I thought.
