Moving north yet??

Postby goldhunter470 » Wed Jan 18, 2006 7:25 pm

I heard of sightings in SE Nebraska. Man, the way this winter has been going up here in Nodak, those birds will be in Canada by mid February. (We have had a very nice winter with highs in the upper 20's to upper 30's.) We do have some snow in Fargo, but not much out west in the flyway. www.nohrsc.nws.gov/interactive/html/map.html

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has seen them moving toward The Great Not So White North.

My gut feeling is they are going to be 2 weeks earlier than normal this spring.

I can deal with a couple of weeks. Not a big deal. I just hope we get a decent snow line this year. Maybe a good six inches north of HWY 2. That would be perfect!!

Small bunches never left here.....but expect our total of 70,000 to drift intermittently this spring.....northeast colorado has wintered some which is totally abnormal...will try when conservation season opens....

Saw nothing today. Warm south wind, sunny day, and not one damn snow. We had a good looking setup too. ad 2 flocks of whitefronts decoy though.

Report of 7,000 to 50,000 in north east colorado. DOW counts them higher than reports from guides and outfitters...hmmmmm We have a front in now and its 16 degrees. I will hit them opening weekend and let everyone know what I see.

Well I can tell you that there not going to be in SD untill it warms up. It supposed to be a high of -25 I think today. So I don't see them getting here untill 2nd or 3rd week of March.
