Anyone converting mallards into snow goose floaters?

Postby goodkarmarising » Wed Oct 03, 2012 8:08 am

Any of you snow goose hunters converting mallard floaters/duck decoys into snow goose floaters? Too cheap here to spend $100 plus on a dozen snow goose floaters especially when I want to put together a snow gose water spread of 120 to 200 snow goose floaters. Any pics of duck decoys turned into snow floaters or suggestions? Thanks, Joe.

Look good. Just add some black to the eyes and maybe a little more pinkish on the beaks.

The bigger the duck decoys the better. If you could find some of those mammoth Super Magnum Flambeau's or any brand for that matter would be even better.

What you have already looks pretty good and would work in a water setup I think.

We added about 8 dozen snow goose floaters last year and they really helped especially when mixed with our field spread.

I think they'll do the trick. More white the better.

We had permission to hunt a loafing pond across the road and didn't have any snow decoys a number of years back, so we went to a hardwear store and got some flat white and back primer and voila a dz Flambeau duck floaters became almost the real deal.
We shot some snows that afternoon.

Thanks for posting the pics up. I sorted out my marginal duck decoys out of my duck spread and now have 40 to 50 more deeks to convert into snows.
