Number of decoys

Postby Tyger » Wed Sep 11, 2013 2:38 am

Im assuming theres no such thing as "too many" when it comes to snow geese but what would be a good minimum. I plan to use them in south Arkansas where there can be groups of thousands.

It all depends on how many snow geese there are in an average.
I am going with a slim margin of 100 silo, flyers and silosocks that would give me three cracks at the early three waves and then it might be it.

I usually run about 800 sock type decoys. I have about 20 fliers,I use the fliers les and less .The weather has a lot to do with decoy numbers, the tougher the weather the less decoys you need.In North Dakota I would not use less than 500.We used to use lots of rotaries and other flying machines but I got to be too much work.
