Redbone Speck Call

Postby Sprig-Speck Hunter » Tue Aug 28, 2012 10:50 pm

Anybody have an irritating problem with your single reed sticking? When I cluck the thing just sticks. Stops. No sound and I have to use all the air in my lungs to get the reed to "break" from its stuck position. Ive tried everything and it continues to stick. Its a 2012 acrylic model. Any tips or information would be much appreciated before this call goes on craigslist.

I'm not a Redbone guy, but if I had that much invested in his call, I'd talk to Nathan before giving up on it.
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.

You may try turning the reed over if not already done so Or trying a new reed if you have one available, otherwise the call may need to be sent back.

I think when I use "clean" air into the call, Im able to get clear notes without sticking. It is VERY difficult to not use so much damn saliva when calling.

When I was a kid I used to wipe my reeds down with rain x until I learned how to control it. It's a trick my dad taught me. I haven't had to do it since I was around 12 but it does work.
