2nd goose call (have SMH)

Postby usmc2220 » Tue Sep 25, 2012 3:40 pm

I picked up a brand new Foiles Strait Meat Honker last night at dicks for a really good price (MSRP $159.99 marked down to $99.97 and they had 25% off the sale price... then it rang up as the 25% off already so the clerk calls the manager and he says to take another 25% off for a total of $59.04 out the door. I told them it rang up already 25% off and they said it was off what it rang up so I didn't argue any more).

My question is, what would be another call that'll compliment this one but not be the same tones, style, and all that's a higher end acrylic. Before this call I had a Goosezilla, and RNT Coco (trying to trade this one plus cash for a better call if anyone has an abundance of calls and trying to get rid of one or would trade for other stuff).

I've been looking through and see winglocks are popular (tried a few in the store... would consider but they seemed a bit harder and more finicky with back pressure).

Also seeing a lot about Tim's Super Mag.

Anyways looking for a recommendation on other calls that would compliment the SMH (new too goose so not sure what that would be and not something already covered in other posts).

Thanks,

Aaron

Wow you got a heck of a deal on that smh. As far as another call goes, pretty much any call would work. It's all about tuning. Have one tuned higher, and the other tuned lower. If you want to stick with foiles I would recommend the high plains honker.

I was running a Bay Country Shore Thing with my SMH awhile back and that was a good combo. Its a great call. If you want something a bit higher pitched the CCC calls are awesome too.

Do yourself a favor and get a Gander Valley TripleX to match up with that call. It will give you the high end crack and sweet natural goose on the low end. These two calls will compliment each other very well. The TripleX is a crazy short call that has more than impressed me with it's range and sound. Also the "fit" is just amazing.
