heartland custom calls

Postby fowlhunter » Sun Aug 25, 2013 6:18 pm

Does anyone know where I could get an insert for the pip squeak? I don't think they are making calls anymore, so I was wondering if anyone here knew.

Begs the question of how you lost a threaded insert? I've a delrin Pipsqueak I don't use but have thought enough of to hang onto. Neat little calls.

Well, I set it on the fridge so my little kids would not get it and my wife knocked out off. It broke at the base of the threads. I actually glued it back together and it works. For how long, who knows.

Too bad they shut the doors... Good calls. Is it the original X-out pip squeek, or his final model?

I'm not sure, but here's a picture.

Never knew there were different Pipsqueak designs, but mine has a very different exterior shape than that one.

Would be interested in learning which is what generation. Gunnysway?

Here's mine. I was given this call by Bryan from Heartland Calls at Game Fair about 10 years ago. They were running the shop out of South Dakota at the time. Great call. VERY fast. The bore is about as open as the Grand Canyon, so she can scream as well...

It was the first time I had seen such a small call. The only other one I can remember from that time was Grounds Sweet Cackler...

I bought mine towards the end. I think. Brian was only doing it part time. Is yours made from delrin? You are definitely right about it being fast. I'll probably run it this year when I'm chasing the short necks, or keep it in the bag for a different sound.

P.S. Nice Ash Tele in the back ground!

Yes, it is delrin. At the time I received this call, he was just bringing them out and delrin was the cheapest, highest quality, most durable product to use. It, at the time, was just a MUCH smaller version of the X-Out. I did like the shape change he made...

It's a great call... Sad he quit making calls...

Mine is like Gunny's only without any engraving and with a white insert. Said they were born out of messing with some leftover short stock. Not my favorite but a super easy call to run well enough for our Richardsons.

As I understood it at the time, he quit putting the sticker on because it was the exact same sticker as the original X-Out... and one can not have 2 calls with the same name... gets confusing, so he sold some of them with no sticker. Then came the product style change, and unfortunately the rest is history as they say...

He had quite a few fantastic running calls...

Do you know what guts are in them? I've not had another call with similar ones.

Unfortunatly I don't. I put Grounds guts in that call years ago... I could only assume some version of cluckers... but its just throwing darts....

Sorry.
