What Higher pitched, Easy to run call to grow on?

Postby MOhunter13 » Wed Jan 22, 2014 10:47 am

I am lookin at gettin another new goose call. I want something higher pitched and pretty easy to run and advance on. I am fairly ned to goose calling but i know all the basics and starting to advance onto more advanced calls. From your experience what would you reccomend?
    Remington 870 Express 20 Gauge=$400
    Duck calls=$120
    Waders=$100
    Shells=$15
    Grand Total= 1,000,000,000 DEAD DUCKS

I've tried several and prefer Gander Valley Custom Call's XXX.

Grounds Real Thang. If you can get your hands working properly, this call will run with the best of them. It's easy to blow, but the downside of the call is that the insert is so short, it CAN be difficult to run if you have really sloppy hands. Good basics, which you say you have, will work fine and you can really advance with this call. The Super Thang would be a little easier, as it has a longer insert than the Real Thang and it will grow with you also. The new G Overhauler from Grounds would also be an excellent choice. Only downfall in my eyes to the G is that it lacks a little in volume to me...just my experience though.

Field Proven's Matrix is another shorter call with lots of good attributes. I like what I'm hearing from the new Zink NBN and COD, but not a huge fan of the Zink guts...just don't fit me well. I'd like to see how they run for me with a gut more like a clucker.

LIke said above try the Gander Valley Custom Calls line up. The XXX they offer is one sweet running unit. It feels great in hand very comfortable, easy to run and it can do it all! This call has helped my take my calling to the next level. Great price line and the best customer service I have encountered!

I really enjoy the speed and goose I get out of my XXX. Gander Valley really knocked this call out of the park. You won't find a better call at a better price, nice to have the service they provide to. The XXX is shorter and a little higher pitched then the RT and it is quite a bit easier to run.

Tim Grounds Half Breed, Been running one since 95' still kills geese. Also Tims Short Magnum goose call in wood is a very good choice, runs a little higher pitch and very goosey !Also Bill Saunders Traffic and or his I5KLR both very good calls in my opinion. and run similar to the TG's i keep on my lanyard.

I just got a TG real thang, and it's taken a little practice, but it's realy starting to sound good, real good... When I first got it, i figured it wouldn't replace my $$$ maker, that has now changed... I'm sure I'll be grabing it first-
Like anything, put a little effort into it, and you get a reward for it- I too noticed your hands need to be working correctly for the call to sound right-

Another vote for the Real Thang, Good call and it's also comes with those nice triple crown guts. Easy to blow has a fairly high pitch.

I got to go with the XXX on this one guys! I like my RT but it is closer to a PCS by Gander Valley. The XXX is in a different class of call, a little shorter and higher pitched bu not by much. The nice thing it is still a killer on the low end. Best all around I have ran to date. Check the price! :)

C&S apostle is a great call.

Keep in mind a huge factor to a goose call is the guts.

My all time favorite high pitched call to date is an old lowlife with a set of big seans big rig guts, followed by my apostle with his older green bigs.

Zink SR-1 is high pitched. I really like mine and it is starting to get goosey as the tone board is starting to wear in.

As do I Rick. :thumbsup:

Maybe someone can talk John into building a limited edition 10th Anniversary or something like that. They'd sell 'em all quicker than a minnow can swim a dipper.
