The "D" is a half breed body with TC guts. The TC guts give the call more depth in tone than the standard model. The original will get higher pitched and louder, TO ME, than the "D" will, but the "D" gives you more bottom end deep tone and also allows for the more finesse notes to be hit easier. The same call body, but to me, two different animals completely. Both are excellent hunters and I'll always have a standard half breed with me. Geese go nuts over than high pitched sound.
I own both and the Half Breed D shocked me on ease of use. The low end and goosey sounds of the "D" are well worth the extra $$$. I think Hunter won the Live Goose with it.
