I've been playing around with the tuning of a little giant and a Canuck recentley and just want to make sure I understand basically how to tune one to get a lower pitch out of it, I've backed the wedge off the line maybe two lines width and shaved a little bit off the back of the reed right where it hits the wedge, I also have both reeds turned so the side that bows down bows up like opposite of a duck call, does this sound about right? I can run both calls about as well as I can any short reed and am getting a deeper tone out of both as opposed to before. Both reeds are unshaved except for what I took off the back, there's still good crack, any other tips to get a lower pich with out making the call run too stiff?
Yea I have a set of edge guts that are showing some good wear not enough to be called broken in I think but I would like to keep them in whatever call I feel il use most to hopefully someday be fully broken in
I think I have heard that before , I will give that a try , now where is it appropriate to bend the tip of a reed? I know that will give it a lil more on the low end but does it soften the crack or pop of a call?
