i bought a buck gardner hammer 2 (my first short reed) .i also have a big river flute. the flute is alot lower in pitch than the short reed is. i was just wondering if that is how its spossed to be or if i am just blowing the short reed all wrong.

Again, you need to get a video or watch someone elso call on a short reed. It could be a thousand different things that are going wrong. Honker talk by shawn stahl or dave smith from davesmithdecoys "breakthrough" are both great to help!
"Dont land over there!"
So what time are they suppose to show up?

but short reeds are a lil tricky sometimes... in genral they are probly going to be a lil lower but a lot of it is tuneing ... your short reed might be to be retuned for a lower pitch that is all and some calls are just higher depending on what region you live it it makes a differance but both will kill geese i have killed dark geese with a snow goose call b4...(lost the instert out of other call and didn;t bring and extra)
