Duck decoys used as geese decoys

Postby Humpbackshooter » Sat Jan 19, 2013 9:35 pm

Whats ya'lls opinion on taking old duck decoys that are leaking and busted and painting them white ( hunting snows). I've got close to maybe a 100/150 old duck decoys hangin off the back fence that are in need of repair. Busted, stepped on and cracked, shot, lost keels, etc, etc. Was thinking that I could clean them up and repaint. Will use on field that is dry. That way I don't have to worry about water in them. This would be the start of a major snow goose spread of old tires, wind socks, 5 gal. buckets cut in half and so on. Might even throw in some actual goose decoys.

Some guys are having success with them on the water. Can't see why they wouldn't work in the field...............

I have 3 dozen old magnum ducks I painted as snows. I just used flat exterior latex white paint because I had 5 gallons sitting around. Rattle can'd the tails and beaks. Birds have died over them so they must be good enough.

Tapatalkin on my Droid while I should be working.
