Cheap snow goose decoy tactics

Postby ryan p09 » Fri Jan 25, 2013 9:25 am

New to snow goose hunting! Been duck hunting all my life but going to try snow geese this year for the conservation season. Snow decoys are expensive as hell so are there any poor boy decoy tactics out there for snows? Feedback appreciated! Thanks!

Get between the roost and the field find a likely hill to get you closer to them or set up where the are dropping down and pass shot them. Take those longer shots and be a good shot. 31/2 inch bbb

For $700 you can get 24 dozen sillosocks. Few cans of spraypaint and a stencil is all you need. Build an ecaller and go hunt.

I made these over 15 years ago befor chloroplast was available. They are made from fiberglass panel scraps I got from work.

really hard to do now days since the hunting pressure on them has increased so much, but 10 to 12 years ago we would tie up white plastic wal mart bags on dowel rods. Weve also used white trash bags & diapers. Again its been several years since we've done it but if cheap is what you are looking for its a possible solution.

Years ago you would read articles about guys using white bleach bottles, diapers for rag decoys, paper plates and rags made out of white plastic table clothe. Silohouettes can be made out of wood or coroplast. I have friends that made new Canada silos every year out of card board and they killed geese every year when we were young.

You can use white plastic grocery bag. Tape the handles to a stake so the wind blows them open. Spray paint a black V or X on the back of them. It works ok earlier in the season. Check out knutsondecoys.com they have some misprint rags for I think $18 for a hundred, not 100% sure on the price.

It says on the website under the product description that they are printed on both sides. I am assuming that is the mos print on them
