Hardcore Floaters?

Postby jscheirer » Sun Nov 10, 2013 3:57 pm

I am contemplating buying some floating goose sleepers to add variety to my water spread. I saw these on sale at Cabelas and was thinking about buying some but the reviews are scaring me a bit... I'm very careful with all my decoys but still if they are of such poor quality I may just save up for better ones. Any insight would be great, thank you

Plastic is brittle on them.

I have some of them and if the sides don't break on them the groove that the keel slides in will break. Junk IMO

I bought a 6 pack of em at bass pro last year. Floaters with the removable keel, came with a bag. They were I think a little over a hundred bucks. What a deal!! I put them in the water ONCE last year, on their maden voyage one if them cracked. I went to use them this year in my field spread and upon trying to remove the keel it all but exploded. Tryed another, same effin thing. I am irate. $100 + down the drain.Straight effin junk. Got to use them once.

At the time the hardcores were like $45 for 4 and that's the main reason why I asked about them. Plus I want some more sleepers for the spread eventually. Thanks to everyone who replied

2014 catalog doesn't appear to show any change in the composition of the floaters. Hopefully they are listening to consumers and use a softer plastic though.

I had bad luck with the thin plastic as well. After one season almost all of them had a crack somewhere on the sides of the decoy. I also did not like the yellow primer they used for the flocking, When the flocking got scratched you could see a big yellow line.

This was a few years ago so maybe some things have changed.
