Fixing cracked shells?

Postby taylor714914 » Sat Jan 11, 2014 8:42 am

Couldn't resist a 12 pack of Ghg hotbuy goose decoys for 30 bucks 6 shells have cracks like the one below, and I'm thinking of super gluing them. It's about an inch and a half long. Any other options?

Push it together and put a strip of fiberglass over the crack from the inside, pour on a little resin and let it cure. Maybe...?

put a little glue at the end of the crack to keep it from cracking more. I personally think those cracks aren't a huge deal,I'd hunt them as is

Thanks for the info. That's actually the worst of it. Most are smaller.
I ended up gluing the whole crack, so I'll report back tomorrow morning.

Actually send them to me, Ill fix them, field test them for a few years, and if the glue holds, ill send them back with no charge. LOL

x2 on the layered fiberglass, on the inside of the shell.

I had similar issues with some of mine. I drilled a small hole at the end of the crack to keep it from running further then super glued them. I finished off by spray foaming the inside with low expansion window and door foam... Good as new

JB Weld for plastics. I just fixed a bunch of cracks in some old G&H 747 shells. Really tough stuff, and decoys will never crack open in those spots again. Really good around the neck where heads are inserted, and those are notoriously weak spots on the old G&H decoys.
