VA Can Hunt

Postby DWRohrig » Wed Feb 05, 2014 10:02 am

Hello, I'm new to this forum, but i really like the idea of trading a hunt with someone who might have a good opportunity at birds we dont get where I'm from. Idealy I would like to do something late in the season so the birds have great plumage. Im not a guide or anything but we have a ton of fun and kill a few birds. These are a couple pictures from this season. We did really well with the cans this year. Could have killed more puddlers but diver hunting is addictive, makes it hard to go sit in a pot hole. Each pic is from a different hunt. I live in Richmond Virginia but we hunt all over Virginia

Ditto, the season runs from Oct. 20 something to Jan. teens. we shoot bills, buffs and ringies from opening week on.

What dont you shoot in VA that you'd like to shoot somewhere else?
....its like taking x-lax when you have a bad cough. It wont clear up your lungs, but it sure stops you from coughing

I know some people in VA have good luck with pintails, but we dont. Never even seen one and ive always wanted a nice one for the wall. Cinnamon teal are next on the list but i think im going to have to go to the west coast for that one.

My wife's from Richmond. I'm in the area to visit the in-laws most years. Don't have any hunting to offer, but if you are interested in a unique fishing trip. I'm pretty sure I can get you and a couple buddies hit in the head by a few flying carp and probably even shoot a few out of the air with the bow.

This video is a buddy that runs a chart for this in the area.

Only one black eye on this trip. It's a contact sport.

There's a lot of good bowfishing for other things as well.
