Postby ranger2008 » Tue Apr 29, 2014 6:53 am

With the extreme cold weather still taking hold of the breeding area does anyone have any optimism for a healthy hatch this year Iknowits too eaearly to know but its not to early to start a thread to talk about it and keep up with nesting and hatch numbers, after all a good hatch = good hunting.

Ice breakup at the Karrak Lake.
colony was 14 days earlier than the long-term
average (1991–2014), and the earliest on record. In addition, the first goslings were seen 6 days
earlier than average. Conditions for Ross’s geese
nesting on Southampton Island were also good.
Overall, above-average production and an above average
fall flight were expected for Ross’s geese.
This is the first report I have read!!
