where will you be hunting?
I reccommend shooting 4 or 6 shot at ducks and BB BBB or 2 shot at geeseI suggest that you buy a Haydels Dirty Rice Mallard, Haydels BW GW &cinn teal call, and a Duck Commander 6in1 whistle. Warm clothse are a must as far as camo it depends where you will be hunting but Mossy Oak Sahdowgrass is a good all around camo

if you need anything else just ask

That is fine. Will you be hunting ducks or geese, or both?

to clean our franchi u can run semi-boiling hot water down the barrel to flush it of all debris. the hot water will dry itself out. just remember to lube the action, and try not to get water in the ejector. max 4 HD is a great camo, as for clothes, any cabellas waterfowl cold wheather gear will do. i recomend some bibs and a jacket. try out ammo like Bismuth or hevishot, and see which one you like. where are you from?

get some waders, decoys, calls, and some kind of water craft for retrieving birds and setting out deeks. I also hunt in washington primarily western, there are some public spots near you. cherry valley, carnation, I would get to know these areas and others. find out where the ducks are and setup there. good luck feel free to ask any question .
I hunt every weekend primarily by myself and have the time of my life

i shoot bb shot for all waterfowl(no crippling), waders(neopreme or breathable) 12-36 dekes(pending on majority specie of ducks) and a T Salt call or RNT or even a Foiles, practice practice practice(YOU AND DOG BOTH) don't lead mallards or any other puddle duck by no more than a ft.(shot is really really quick), :welcome: and have fun

i started with some old military pants, a m65 field jacket and some black hip boots shootin black ducks. these to me are by far the smartest big duck. i cant even begin to remember how many i shot that season but it was a blast. just goes to show you u dont need a bunch of fancy gear to kill some good ducks. nice to see we have more young blood joining us!

I would prefer 2 shot at ducks and BB, or BBB for geese. It will take them down. Just make sure you lead them on a side shot, and shoot for there feet win landing. GOOD LUCK

This Ought-a Help

Postby CamoKid1294 » Thu Dec 20, 2007 3:41 pm

i shoot a 20ga Mosbourg and its a great gun i have a yellow lad there are great retrievers. but if ya got the money buy black cloud shells, if you goose hunt buy some big foot goose decoys buy an ole raspy hen( Duck camander) Primos(Original Wench) Primos(Yo Sista)and duck camander 6in1 thats what is on my lanyard. Also here is a tip for your decoys on setting them up. imangine a j or sloppy u shape throw in only a couple of mallerds about 15 to30 or 40 ducks altogether on whatever your hunting and make sure the wind is hitting your back and if your in a blind re arange ur decoys so that the U and the wind are facing the same direction. Hope this Helps
Jason

p.s. good luck
