Like its already been said, if you aren't on target does it really matter what your shooting? I shoot Winchester Xpert Steel. 3 inch #2 for geese and #4 for ducks. Teamed up with a Patternmaster equals lights out!

Black cloud is far better than any of the normal steel loads I've used(federal, fasteel, winchester) by far it's best for goose hunting the 3 inch BB loads simply crush the geese. A cripple came into our deeks with a broken leg, and after my dad missed him with our 20 gauge i dropped him dead going away at at least 50 yards. The same day i shot my first speckle belly going away at 50 yards, he wasn't dead but hit the ground hard. Definetly worth the exra 6 dollars. sportsmans has fasteel for 15 a box and BC for 21

the only reason i took those two shots is because i had never seen a specklebelly before and there was no way i was going to let him get away. the other canada was limping around the field with a broken leg so I did the humane thing and shot the bird. normally i would never take shots that long at geese or ducks.

Waste

Postby schibs2010 » Mon Dec 29, 2008 9:28 pm

Blackcloud is more expensive than anything and a waste of $. i shoot xpert #2 and they seem to kill anything BC does. just like probably thousands of others i tried a box and the only difference i noticed was that if u wanted to hit anything u had to allow the shot pattern to open up. i hit plenty of ducks at 40 yards but couldnt kill ducks at ten yards.

I get ya on the Canada, but the Speck is a little bit of this ..
I watched 6 Sprigs this year.. the only ones I saw, fly by me at 45 and 50 yards circling me, I didn't take the shot, and I have dropped things at that range, but I wanted my Sprig to be drop dead, no lucky BB hit it, I wanted to fold...
Ps I didnt get a Sprig this year

njonesy_07 wrote:hahaha 100yds, yeah ok. First off you would have to lead that bird so far, and secondly steel wont kill that far. If it does hit it, its not going to kill it. Just stupid IMO. I had a guy tell me that with his patternmaster and BB that he shot snows at 120 yds. I was just dying laughing inside.

I have seen a guy dump a snow at 120 yds because he reloads his own shells it was unbelievable

but dont waste your money on black cloud i tried a box this weekend and hated it

i shoot kent fasteel #3's because you get quite a few more pellets than with #2's and they go the same speed.

You should be able to destroy a bird at 30 yards with #7's.

120 yards? 100 yards? at that range not only to you have to over-lead, but you have to play drop, and at that range there's no shotgun shell made that could penetrate a ducks or geese at that range. i bet at 120 a lead 3" 2 wouldnt penetrate an apple.
