Hunting Age

Postby HonkShooter » Mon Aug 15, 2005 3:03 pm

Just wondering when you guys can hunt alone. Here in MI you have to be 17....kinda sucks. Can start hunting when you're 12. Just wondering what it is for you guys.

It's like 14 here... I know I went out alot with my 2 buddies when we where 14. Infact we even called the game warden office once and they said that it was ok, as long as we didn't drive to and from hunting. You have to be 16 for that.

Here is Arkansas you have to complete the hunter education course( and pass). After you get that you’re good. I think it any-one born after 1980 has to take the 8 hour course.

we have to do a hunters ed class, it consists of 3 weeks, on wed's nights 7-9 then you take ur test and shoot on the last night, and if you score the high score of the session you get to go on either a duck, or pheasant hunt with the federal warden.

Yeah, we have a hunters ed class too. But I took mine in 8th grade..... that is by far the most fun I have ever had in skool!

But we dont have a minimum age for hunting.... only hunting "by yerself"

I didn't know we had one here either...but I'm assuming it's 14 because I hunted by myself last year and the Game Warden didn't say anything.

In Iowa it is 12, but you must complete the hunter education course first to go out by yourself. My 11 year old son will be taking the course next summer. For you guy's that are not sure go to your state's DNR web site, you should be able to find out the information there.
Any day in the outdoor's is better than at work

In Denmark , Europe you have to be 15 to take the test. 16 to get the permit and 18 to hunt by yourself.
My son would envy you guys.
