This weekend was the KY muzzleloader season. On a farm we hunt we have been watching a 8 pointer. We have pictures of him in velvet and out of velvet. Sunday afternoon my girlfriend went deer hunting with me for the first time. Early in the afternoon we saw four does that ate around on the hillside in front of our stand. Then I looked up and the eight pointer was standing right in front of us about 75 yards away. I hadn't really decided before hand whether I was going to shoot this deer or not. I was looking at him through my binoculars and my girlfriend kept telling me to shoot him. Well, I couldn't hold off. The last buck I killed was three years ago. It was bigger than this deer but I just couldn't pass him up, especially with my girlfriend telling me to shoot him. So I shot and smoke filled the air. The buck ran down the hill about 50 yards and I heard him fall in the woods on the edge of the field. My girlfriend was really excited. It was one of most memorable hunts and my second biggest buck. Here's some pictures...
