Grunt call?

Can you use the grunt call in the early season? Black powder is coming and I was just wondering.

really only works right before, during, and right after the rut, and im talkin like a 3 week period you'd be able to use it effectively, but you can use it as a curiosity call and something to get them to stop for a shot

Give it a try, it cant hurt. You're in kansas haus, there must be a big buck in the area you hunt and a little grunting, no matter when, might just get up his curiosity. I doubt he'll come charging in snorting fire in September but it might be good enough to get a look at him and know what youre dealing with. Last year i literaly got into a grunting contest with a 2 year old 8 pointer here in WI in early october. Whats the worst that can happen?
