First Scrape of 2010

Postby phil » Tue Sep 14, 2010 9:11 am

I was out Saturday, September 11, checking my stands and saw my first scrape of the year. This is about two weeks earlier than I have ever seen one in west central Indiana. Would you guys read anything into this? Do you think the rut may be a little early this year? Or would you just consider it a fluke from an immature buck?

I wouldnt read too much into it. Could have been McJunior or it could been old mossy horns. Old bucks have been known to lay down scrapes right after they break their summer pattern. Could be a sign of a good aggressive deer in the area, kind of deer that might respond to calling/rattling.
